As someone who often feels overwhelmed, it feels like Sassy Godmother’s Pearls of Wisdom was written with me in mind and I have certainly got more than I expected out of it.

The chapters, or pearls, are concise and written in a lighthearted way that engages and entertains the reader as well as offering tips to help you improve your own life. I found it very easy to read and I loved the way that Susie Hall adds a good dose of humour to her writing. I felt more like I was interacting with the author rather than simply reading a self-help book.

I am a little disappointed that there is no contents page or index. It’s a book I would like to refer to again (and indeed it suggests doing so) but without a guide to which page the pearl is on, it’s not that easy to find what you’re looking for.

Inspiring, powerful and life-affirming, Sassy Godmother’s Pearls of Wisdom is a superb book to have on your bookshelf as you navigate your way through life.

Sassy Godmother’s Pearls of Wisdom: 50 inspiring ways to navigate your life is a rarity in the self-help space. It manages to feel both comforting and empowering at the same time. It’s packed with short, relatable insights that speak directly to women who are balancing careers, families, responsibilities, and the never-ending demands of everyday life. What I loved most is how practical the guidance is. Each “pearl” feels like a gentle nudge back to yourself; encouraging you to set boundaries, reclaim your energy, and make choices that feel aligned rather than overwhelming.

It’s the kind of book you can dip in and out of, I don’t think it should be read cover to cover in one sitting as you’ll miss some of the gems between the pearls. But every time you return to it, something lands differently. Uplifting, honest, and full of heart, this is a beautiful reminder that wisdom doesn’t come from perfection, but from living, learning, and keeping hold of your own light.

Highly recommended for anyone who needs a moment to pause, breathe, and feel inspired again with some real-talk from someone who has been there, done that, and got the t-shirt in every colour and style!

This is such a fun, interesting and helpful book. I can’t remember the last time that I enjoyed a book so much. Written in an engaging and simple to follow way you are sure to find helpful. No matter what your view on self-help books you need to give this one a try. I adore the honest style of writing and how no judgement is leveled at the reader. Rather you get the sense that you are in conversation with Hall and being reassured that what you may be facing or feeling is not in isolation but others have had similar situations. I cannot recommend this enough. Definitely one of my favourite self help books I’ve read so far.
