Finding Balance and Authenticity in Work and Life
Do you ever feel like you’ve lost connection to your natural energy – the softer, creative, intuitive side of yourself?
If you answered a resounding “YES” to that question it might be because you’re operating in a predominantly masculine-energy environment. And it could be causing you to take a more masculine approach to get on and fit the culture. Notice I didn’t say “male” dominated environment. Because this isn’t about male and female, it’s about masculine and feminine. And we all have both regardless of gender. But, as women, when we get out of balance and stray from our natural superpowers, we can run into trouble.
Your Feminine Comeback Starts Here
The world doesn’t need more burnt-out achievers. It needs grounded, self-aware, compassionate leaders: people who bring emotional intelligence, creativity and collaboration to the table. People who listen, who will reflect and who will include.
When you reconnect with your feminine energy, you don’t lose your edge. You gain clarity, confidence, and calm.
Why We’re So Tired of Being “On”
Woman have fought for equal rights for decades and it still continues. But, for many differing reasons, we’ve ended up trying to DO too much and BE too much. The pressure to perform, lead, nurture, and succeed in every area of life has left many of us burned out. In a world that rewards speed, competition, and control, the result is exhaustion. We’ve been operating in survival mode rather than in flow.
The Case for Feminine Power
Re-connecting with our feminine energy (collaboration, compassion, creativity, intuition, and vulnerability) and stepping into our feminine power is one of the greatest gifts we can give to ourselves and to society.
There’s a dominance of Alpha masculine energy in the world right now. Aggression, hard power, ego, speed, divisiveness, competition. And let’s face it, wouldn’t you agree it’s all a bit of a f*** up?
Recent global leaders like Jacinda Ardern and Sanna Marin model the power of feminine energy beautifully: balancing empathy and strength, making decisive choices with humanity and grace. Their example proves that soft power can be just as effective, if not more so, than traditional command and control styles.
Ardern rocked up at the UN with her newborn baby. Showing vulnerability was a thread woven throughout her tenure. But how she led and steered her country through Covid, terror attacks and fatal floods showed how effective strong feminine energy can be. While Marin was known for her soft power strategies of gaining consensus, co-operation and trust to safeguard her country.
This isn’t about rejecting the masculine. It’s about integrating the best of both: focus and flow, logic and intuition, action and reflection.
Bringing the Feminine Back into the Workplace
If you find yourself constantly in your head at work, analysing rather than feeling, it might be time to re-ground yourself. Try incorporating small, body-based resets into your day: a walk between meetings, deep breathing before a difficult call, or simply stretching to reconnect with your physical self. Movement brings you back into your body, where intuition and creativity live.
And if you find your workplace culture consistently clashes with your values or requires you to hide your authenticity to “fit in,” that’s useful feedback. It might not be you that’s the problem – it might be the environment.
So, how can you re-connect with your feminine?
Understanding your natural superpowers and embodying them on a more regular basis is a good starting point. One of the aspects of feminine energy is the ability to receive. Start asking for help more often. You can’t do everything, but why should you?
At home and at work, the strength of your boundaries will determine how you’re educating others to treat you. Get it wrong and you end up making that rod for your back. Becoming more comfortable with vulnerability is key. You don’t have to DO everything. It doesn’t all have to be perfect. Life is messy. Honour your feelings rather than negating them. Stop saying you’re fine when you’re not. Honesty and vulnerability go hand in hand.
If you find you’re spending too much of your life in your head, over-analysing rather than connecting with how you truly feel, then developing a stronger relationship with your body is also a practical first step. Any kind of embodiment or body movement practice, breathwork or meditation is a good start.
Belly dancing became popular a while ago because it connected women back to their sexy selves. It brings the energy flow back into the lower half of your body by encouraging movement in the hips and the lower sacral areas. Shake your booty. Make it a priority to dance and move more often. Even if that means in your home office before a Zoom call or while you’re making a coffee.
And are you using your intuition enough/at all? Intuition is one of your most incredible feminine superpowers but it’s often negated because we can’t rationally explain it. That doesn’t mean it isn’t real; you just need to learn to trust it.
If you feel your authenticity is being compromised at work by having to BE a certain way to fit in and get on, then maybe the culture of your company doesn’t align with your True Nature? Maybe it’s time to find an alternative path? The world needs you – both at home and at work – to re-connect with your feminine.
Three Pearls of Wisdom for a Feminine Reboot
Ask for What You Need
One of the most underrated strengths of feminine energy is the ability to receive. Whether it’s at work or home, start asking for help. Delegating isn’t a weakness – it’s a sign of trust, clarity, and self-respect.
Lead with Boundaries and Vulnerability
Boundaries are the framework of respect. When you hold them firm, you teach others how to treat you. And vulnerability? It’s not weakness. It’s the courage to show up authentically, even when you don’t have all the answers. Which is OK.
Trust Your Intuition
Intuition in its truest sense (a deep knowing rather than pre-existing knowledge) is a powerful divine force. If you can learn to trust this inner power – even though you might not be able to explain it – it will serve you well.
Sassy Challenge
This week, choose one area of your life where you can soften and slow down, ask for help, speak your truth, or simply rest without guilt. That’s leadership too.
